tellrest
tell.rest is a small, donation-funded Story Search & Imagination Engine: a public library of AI-told story-journeys you search and reimagine. Ask it about almost anything and it researches the question live from cited sources, paints the scenes, narrates the whole thing in one warm voice, and keeps the finished story on a shelf for anyone to read. There are no required accounts.
A story here isn't finished when you open it — that's the whole point of the name. Pull any thread — ✦ tell the rest — and the library grows that part of the story from its own cited research. Wonder what if? and add your own imaginings alongside the documentary spine: your what-ifs branch off in their own colour, and the facts stay exactly as they were — never overwritten. Then curate your own telling — choose which moments to hear, and in what order, and the narrator reads back the version you built. The same question becomes a different story in every reader's hands: the documentary stays true, and your imagination rides alongside it.
Every story is narrated by a single recorded narrator. We deliberately don't fall back to a robotic computer voice — if the narrator can't speak, the story waits quietly rather than read itself in a voice that isn't ours.
The stories are written by AI from live research, and every story carries its sources so you can follow them back to the original material. AI can be wrong — so each story is openly labeled as AI-told, and we ask you to verify anything that matters (see the Terms).
tell.rest is a general-audience, documentary library for teens and adults. It is not directed at children under 13. Difficult subjects — war, death, disaster — are treated the way a museum or a documentary would: to understand, never to thrill or instruct. Every story is free to everyone, forever, whether or not anyone donates. Donations are entirely voluntary, support a for-profit product, and are not tax-deductible — they cover the AI models behind each story and help the next one get told.
We don't track you. No required accounts, no emails, no names, no cookies. The one thing you can opt into is a study notebook — a name and a passkey you choose, which we keep only as a one-way hash, never your identity. We can't tell who you are, and we built it that way on purpose. The whole story: Privacy.
